Here are some common questions you might have about our book club:
How do I join the Wichita Book Club?
Easy! Just join our facebook page Ladies Love Books and you’ll receive updates on when, where and what we are reading for each month!
Who chooses the book and location?
Whoever volunteers to host for that month gets to pick the book of their choice and where to meet (which gives us lots of variety). We have hosted meetings in public places (such as Panera) and people’s homes. As host you can pick whichever you are more comfortable doing.
What kind of books are chosen for the meetings?
We don’t really have one specific theme or genre. We have ranged from romance to horror to slice of life to non-fiction. The host for the month gets to pick the book, and whichever is chosen is fine with us (variety is the spice of life!)
What book are you reading for the next book club meeting?
Our calendar has the latest dates and books for planned book club meetings. You can also find out the date, book, and location on our Facebook Group Page: Ladies Love Books under Upcoming Events. For privacy reason the closed Facebook group page is the only one that contains the location.
How formal is the book club meeting?
It’s actually very informal! You just come in, introduce yourself if you are new, and jump right in!
I’m not available on Thursdays but I really want to join! Help!
Our dates and days aren’t set in stone. We try to be flexible when we can. Recently we are trying out Saturday mornings. If you still want to join us but have difficulty with your schedule, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
I didn’t get a chance to read/finish the book for the upcoming book club. May I still come?
Of course! Just beware that there will be spoilers during our discussions. We understand busy schedules and this isn’t a literature class so we don’t ding you points for not reading the material 🙂 Come and be social anyway!
I have a friend who would like to tag along just to see what it’s like. Is it okay if I bring him/her along with me?
Sure. Guests are always welcome. As a courtesy, we ask that you RSVP the extra guest on Facebook as well, just so we know how many people are coming.
